- Mac Free Lipstick Recycle 2019
It’s rare I buy anything other than high street makeup but I do have the occasional more expensive item. MAC make up is something I often receive for my birthday or Christmas and as such every couple of years or so, I accumulate old packaging. Fantastically, MAC are committed to the environment and as such, they run a Back to MAC scheme in a bid to recycle products where possible like mac cosmetics & Makeup recycle. If you return 6 MAC packaging containers back to MAC you will receive a mac free lipstick (excluding the Viva Glam Lipstick which are for a charitable cause).
MAC asks that items returned are “primary packaging” which means they do not accept the following:
- Paper boxes
- Plastic or cellophane wrappers
- Shopping bags
- Samples
- Applicators/tools
- Accessories (cases, bags, lashes, and a few others)
I know a number of women with not insignificant MAC habits who had forgotten all about or not even heard about the Back to MAC scheme. So if you’re nearing the end of a beloved MAC product, make sure you hang on to the packaging so you can eventually be in line to score a free lippy. Best yet, I have quite a few friends and colleagues who can’t be bothered to take their products back to the store “just” for a free product and they’re only too happy to shove them my way. Don’t be too scared to ask if you see a friend heading bin-ward with some MAC packaging.
The MAC lipstick exchange recycling program can help in a small but important way by letting you recycle old products in exchange for a free new one. Yes, I said free. Most MAC products are considered qualified containers. They include blush compacts, eyeshadow pots, foundation bottles, lipstick tubes, and more. Once you have six of them, return the containers to any MAC counter, and you walk away with free makeup. Customers returning six containers receive a free lipstick, lipglass, or eyeshadow. One thing I love and appreciate from MAC Cosmetics is the fact that they share a mutual commitment to the environment. By returning 6 empty primary containers of your old makeup to a MAC counter in a department store or at an actual MAC store you receive a free lipstick (department stores - lipstick only) lipgloss or single. Jan 28, 2014 - MAC Gives Free Lipstick When You Recycle Empty Containers!Do you use MAC cosmetics? Because MAC offers a free lipstick of your choice when you return 6 empty MAC cosmetic containers to a MAC counter or online. Please note, Lipsticks provided at no charge cannot be returned or exchanged. Consumers who are M∙A∙C Lover loyalists may choose a standard Lipstick, Lipglass or small Eye Shadow. MAC Lover Back-to-MAC Expanded is only available in stores at this time.

Transform your empties into something fabulous.
It’s no secret that we’re head over heels obsessed with trying the latest beauty products. But with our passion comes a problem: what should we do with the empty perfume bottles, candle votives, and other finished containers? Make your vanity a little more gorgeous and save the earth by upcycling your beauty products. Here are 10 ways turn your empties into new items that are useful, eco-friendly, and fab.
Mac Free Lipstick Recycle Schedule
1. Glue a figurine on top of a cream jar and spray paint it to create a decorative holder.
2. Repurpose the LUNA™ play as a brush cleaner. (Don’t pay for those pricey silicone brush cleaners! Just wet your device, apply brush cleanser, and glide your makeup brush through the LUNA play’s soft silicone bristles.)
Pro Tip: You can also recycle your LUNA play! If you don’t want to keep it as a makeup brush cleaner, learn how you can give it a second life here.
3. Turn extra compacts into a wall mirror masterpiece.
4. Make an oil diffuser from a perfume bottle.
5. Clean an old liquid eyeliner brush to use as a nail art pen.
6. Turn a used candle into a makeup brush holder.
7. Clean a candle and use it as a flower vase.
8. Attach empty glass cosmetics jars to a wooden board and plant herbs to create a chic planter.
9. Say goodbye to purchasing body scrubs and reuse empty scrub containers to hold DIY beauty products.
10. Clean out an empty lipstick tube for a easy-to-tote bobby pin holder.
Recycling Tips
Not feeling crafty? Don’t throw your empties away! Instead, recycle them. Glass, tin, cardboard, and hard plastic (like your shampoos, conditioners, and body wash containers) can all be recycled. If you have a hard plastic item, simply give it a rinse and toss it in the blue recycling bin. It’s pretty cool that it takes only a few seconds to help save the environment.
If you’re a diehard fan of a specific beauty brand, check to see if the company has a recycling program. Some companies (like MAC Cosmetics and LUSH) reward their customers with a free product when they bring back empty containers. Return five black LUSH jars to receive a free face mask and at MAC, score a free lipstick when you bring back six MAC containers.
